Next time you are at Hungry Jacks or Burger King and get given a cup to fill at the self-service drink station, fill the cup to the brim with your favourite soft drink (No ice if you really want to get more soft drink for your dollar, but more diabetes for your dollar as post mixes are very sweet). Then when you've finished your drink, take the cup with you and come back whenever you feel like a soft drink and refill from the machine. You won't get caught as long as you use the cup with a corresponding logo in the same restaurant. You can do this as many times until there is a hole in the bottom of your cup! How's that for a super cheap thought?
Save on bus tours when on holidays
If you would like to go on a bus tour when on holidays but find it too expensive per person, then look up the itinerary online for a tour you are interested in, hire a car and drive to the meeting point at the starting time. From then on you can drive behind the bus and follow it to all its destinations on the tour. At each destination, you can try to get as close as possible to the commentary from the guide to listen to it. You won't have to pay gratitudes to the guide and driver either at the end of the trip. Note that you only save money if the car hire and petrol is cheaper then the tour when split between X number of people in your car.

Free pencils and rulers
A brilliant idea submitted from a reader of tightassisms, Mr Keen-on-saving-on-stationary.
If you want free stationary, then pocket a few of those tiny pencils they offer when you play Club Keno next at the local RSL. If you live near Rhodes then head to IKEA to get free tiny pencils and paper tape measures.
Take a handful next time your at the local RSL or IKEA and you'll never have to buy a pencil again in your lifetime.
Get yourself FREE coffee
I've figured out a way to get free coffee.
Pick up one of those loyalty coffee cards from your local coffee shop near your work. Ask your work colleagues if they'd like coffee each day and offer to get it for them. Usually if you buy 9 cups in total and get the card stamped per cup, you'll earn yourself a free cup of coffee! So if you bought coffee 3 days in a row for 3 of your work colleagues, you'll get a free cup for yourself every 3 days.
Save on your train fares
Don't give Cityrail anymore money then they deserve!
I worked out that you can save 30% off train fares with Cityrail by catching the train after 9am when its off peak. This works out great if you can go into work after 9am. In my case, a return fare during peak hour (before 9am) is $4.80. But by catching the train after 9am I only pay $3.40. So by catching the train 5 days a week to work, I save $7! And its still cheaper then a weekly train fare. This saving equates to 3 cups of takeaway coffee!
